I'm planning to buy one graphics card only and I think GIGABYTE GeForce GT 1030 Silent Low Profile 2G is the best one I've found, but I know that this pc uses DDR3 for rams, I'm not sure if ram types are the same as graphics cards' types, so I don't want to waste money on something could be [strike]useless[/strike], I just need to make sure that the graphics card mentioned earlier fits in dell optiplex 990 DT.

here is the full name of the graphics card i'm willing to buy:
GIGABYTE GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030SL-2GL Silent Low Profile 2G

Main Features:
Core Clock (MHz): 1506 in OC Mode and 1468 in Gaming Mode
Low profile design with passive cooler
Integrated with 2GB GDDR5 64bit memory
One-click overclocking via AORUS Graphics Engine

My computer's feature:
System Model: OptiPlex 990
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 4096MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Display Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics

You want DDR5 on the GPU. With a separate GPU they aren't related. I would add more RAM. 8GB would be good. The video card will use some system memory to store textures and other data. This won't leave much of 4GB for Windows to operate.
You should boot into Safe Mode(F6) and remove the old GPU drivers. Then install the new GPU and in Safe Mode+ Internet install the new drivers.
