Hi, I have a HP 6005 Pro SFF and I'm wanting to know what graphics card is better and what's the differences between these: GT 740 2 GB SC, GT 430, and others that are budget orriented.

Here are my PC Specs:

Name: HP 6005 Pro Desktop PC

CPU: 3.0 GHz Amd Athlon 64 x2

RAM: 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM

HDD: 160 GB HDD 5400 rpm

OS: Windows 7 Professional

the 740 will be fine for VERY light gaming with lowered resolutions. I'm pretty sure my dell came with a gt 730 and i was able to play some games on it. i just had to turn everything down hard.

but it does seem like a bit of a waste to spend the money if youre building a new pc anyway soon. maybe look into a used gt 740 or gt 730 if you really wanna game now
For what? Gaming? What games? If so neither, there is a sweet spot when buying gpu's for gaming and the gt crads like the 740 are not in it, those things are slugs which barely out perform integrated graphics in modern cpu's. Like said above the gtx 750 ti is the cheapest card I would recommend for gaming. Depending on the games the rest of your system might not be up to the task.

I would save up then. It makes no sense to buy a gt card like than when you can get the 750 ti which literally performs three times better for 30 dollars more than your budget.

I forgot to mention I have a 400 watt PSU

You are still limited by the SFF case. 🙁

Yeah, I should have checked that case before I posted. Most GPU's will not physically fit in that case, unless you take the side panel off and take some tin snips to the side of the case, cut yourself a hole and make it fit. Obviously if you do this you will mangle your case and likely make it so you can never put on your side panel again.
