Hello everyone so I got a computer around last year for school without gaming in mind (It was a gift) (Side note all my prices are Canadian dollars) At first this was ok for casual games, but it didn't exactly preform well for what I taught APU graphics were capable of. So here I am wanting a quick and cheap solution for gaming.

My current pc has...
8Gb DDr3 1600 MHz
AMD A6-5200 APU (HD 8400 Graphics)
1Tb Forgot the brand 7200 Rpm
Optical drive once again unknown brand
Windows 8
350W Powersupply

I found a graphics card on amazon which seems to fit (Benchmark wise) what I would want to use it for.
Leadtek Winfast nVidia Geforce GTS450 2GB PCI Express 2.0 Video Card (53.99$)

So I'm wondering if
One) Will my Cpu handle this?
Two) Will my power supply handle this?

Solution
You scared me when I read cheap and power supply in the same sentence. But Corsair Cx is a great unit. It should suite you quite well.

Good luck and enjoy the upgrades!

Yep you can go for it without any hassels it should do the job 😉

Tomshardware features a "Best videocard for the money" article every month, I would trust this! The GTS450 is old and better hardware (and more efficient power requirement wise) exist.

In November, for around $70(USD) they suggest the GeForce GT 730 64-bit GDDR5 (avoid the 128bit version due to weaker GPU they say)

The GT 730 is 38 watts, where the GTS 450 is 106 watts.

However, 3Dmark states that the GTS 450 is higher performance, I question which version of the 730 they are comparing it to though...

I would use a Gt 730 but it is 90$ on amazon.ca this is just a temporary fix for now. Also less watt's would be good but as long as my 350W power supply is good I'm fine for now.

you can with the GTS 450 your PSU can handle it
😉

*Update*

So took a peek inside the pc and Found a more detailed list of part's.

CPU:AMD A6-5200 APU (Locked@2Ggz)
Motherboard: DAFT3L-Kelia MB
Memory:8Gb of DDr3 1600Mhz ram (Bare memory with stock code stickers on them that don't lead to anything)
Storage: Seargate Barracuda 1Tb 7200 Rpm
Graphics: Radeon HD 8400
Power Supply:Fsp300-60THA 300W ATX12V Power supply
Case: Gateway mid tower pc case not much to say about it(Has usb 3.0's,Sd card reader, Audio I/O on the front as well as lights)
Optical drive: No Idea what brand

So if you search up the power supply you'll find that there is no Pci 6 Pin or 6+2 pin on it (There's a 4 pin but that's no good) So I need another power supply.

In short I have this.

I looked around and found this Power supply which seems to look good and is quite cheap for me I could get this along with the GTS 450 2gb (Gddr3 I think) and I think it would work out.
