I heard that when a PSU gives too little power components, components can DIE so i wanted to ask, what happends when a PSU dies mid use.
I use a PSU of a dead computer (1yr old) because im short on monney right now

if you are interested what i took:LC420H-12 V1.3 - Office Serie http://www.lc-power.com/index.php?id=183

oke i take i tback this PSU is so bad.. 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6snWfd1v7M

Solution

The VS although not the greatest in...
It depends on the quality of the unit.
Too little power wont kill components, the system will just shut down under heavy load due to lack of power leading to faults.
If a unit just dies it can range from a shutdown similar to a power outage (quality unit) or take the whole system with it (poor unit).

I would not recommend using that PSU.

Depends on the PSU.

That PSU does have these protections in place

icherheitsschaltkreise OVP = Überspannungsschutz
OPP = Überleistungsschutz
SCP = Kurzschlussschutz
UVP = Unterspannungsschutz

UVP protects other components from the PSU's undercurrent issue. At least that's what's supposed to happen. So yeah, they can die or if the PSU is good enough only the PSU will be affected.

Here are the specs il use:

Motherboard:M5A78L-M/USB3 ATX - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/specifica...

CPU: AMD FX-6300 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM: G.SKILL RipjawsX 1866GHz 1x 8GB - http://gskill.com/en/product/f3-14900cl10s-8gbxl

HDD: WD5000AAKS, 500GB 7200RPM 16MH Chase - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and another HDD: 7200RMP 300GB

GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 950 - http://www.gainward.com/main/edm/GTX950/gw_edm_GTX950_e...

If a low quality PSU dies mid use it could damage parts. Good PSU's are designed with high quality fault protections such as Over Current Protection, Over Voltage/Under Voltage Protection, Over Power Protection, and Short Circuit Protection just to name a few. I suggest you get a quality PSU ASAP.

This would be a good tier 2 PSU once you get the cash.

That is not the best quality but at least it will power what you have listed.

The VS although not the greatest in terms of build quality has built in protections and can easily run those specs.
