From my previous question to community, now I know that sli-ing gtx980 + gtx970 won't work because they have different processors.

However, I am still curious

1. what will happen if I just plug both of them into pcie slot? or even just putting sli bridge?

2. is there any way I can use both gtx980 and gtx970 on a one motherboard?
(although syncronized working like sli maybe impossible but maybe gtx980 do some work and pass to gtx970 to continue on that?

3. How will driver act if I plug them together? (maybe able to switch just like integrated gpu + dedicated gpu?? however I dont want this since there is nothing beneficial in switching...)

Another question: I have MSI oc gaming gpus. what would be some difference between msi cd provided drivers and nvidia reference drivers? (please tell me specicfically. I of course know oem drivers maybe more customized. However, in what way is it 'customized' ??)

where can I check and downloaf if msi has updated their oem drivers?

Solution
1. they will both work fine.. individually.. donot put a bridge between then
2. as i said above yes
3.the driver will detect 2 different cards and you can choose which gpu you want to game with
4.nvidia reference drivers freshly from their site is always better

the two will show up as different video devices you can do multi monitor but you will not be able to use any sort of accelerated processes between the two. yo can play games and use the 980 and the monitors it is attached to but not the ones on the 970. using the sli bridge will likely result in nothing it simply wont use it.
