Hello I'm currently planning on upgrading my CPU which is an old A10-9700 to a Ryzen 5 5600G. My motherboard is an old MSI B350M Gaming Pro. I am currently using the latest BIOS version that supports my old CPU which is 7A39v2L and the other later versions of the BIOS remove support for it, but it adds support for the 5600G. Could i update to the latest BIOS version and install my Ryzen 5 5600G?

My specs:

CPU: A10-9700
MOBO: MSI B350M Gaming Pro BIOS Ver: 7A39v2L
RAM: PNY XLR8 3200Mhz DDR4 16GB 8x2
PSU: Corsair CX650 Brand New
Storage: Kingston A400 240GB SSD
Wired Network

Yes. You can update BIOS using old cpu and then install new CPU.

Note - if something goes wrong with BIOS update, then your motherboard gets bricked.
It will not be possible to easily restore operation anymore.
Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List all attached peripherals.

Wired or wireless network?

What BIOS versions?
