I'm about to put a PC together, and something I should have asked long ago that just came to me is, what happens if the BIOS is not Ryzen Gen 3 ready, do you need an older Ryzen CPU just to update the BIOS? If so, I don't have one.
I have a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite. That's worriesome hahaha.Depends on the motherboard. Which board do you have?
If there is an incompatible BIOS you will see no image on your monitor and maybe see a CPU debug LED illuminated on the motherboard.
From there, it all depends on motherboard.
Wow that is so cool! Does Intel do that?If you're unable to update the BIOS on your own (or with the help of a local store), you may be able to request a loaner processor from AMD: AMD Boot Kit
This is a short term loan of a low-end processor which, when installed, will allow you to update the BIOS for your new CPU. You will then need to return the loaner CPU back to AMD.

Currently, any Ryzen 2xxx CPU and 3xxx CPU should work without the need for a BIOS update.I have a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite.
Wow that is a stellar thing for AMD to do.No.
Currently, any Ryzen 2xxx CPU and 3xxx CPU should work without the need for a BIOS update.
What CPU are you using?
Thank youYes, a Ryzen 7 3700x will work with any x570 motherboard out of the box.
