What happens if...

Best case scenario? It works. Worst case scenario? It catches on fire, burns down your house... Realistically? It would probably just short out the monitor if it didn't work.

Does the monitor have an external power supply or is it just a simple wire that plugs into the monitor? Not that I recommend it, but just be darn sure that the voltages match; amps can be off by a little. Remember, watts = volts x amps.

In theory it should, however as soon as you plug it into the power supply, it will use all 18w because of the fact that it has to run the default settings and that will typically be all 18w that it needs, so i wouldn't advise trying it as you will probably damage both components.

@Thatchor

Yes, this monitor have an external power supply.

My official recommendation is to find a power supply that matches the voltage and amperage.

Me personally? I would just plug it to see what happens (R.I.P. My favorite mini-NAS).

Best case scenario, it will work. (this scenario becomes more likely if you lower the brightness level on your monitor a lot, which decreases power usage).

Worst case, external power supply will die/burn/blow/smoke, potentially damaging the monitor as well (not very likely, but it can happen).
