I want to change my AMD processor to Intel, so I need to get an LGA mobo. What would happen to my custom PC? Also, I have the reusable version of Windows 8.1 64 bit.
EDIT: I forgot to mention I have an SSD boot drive for ONLY my OS. Just that.

Solution
You will need to reinstall Windows on the boot drive, then more than likely re-install all your programs as they wont be registered with Windows anymore. Your other files, like pictures or documents, will be fine on the separate drive, just re-install Windows on the boot drive and then after all drivers and updates, re-install your programs.

I'm not sure what you mean by "what happens". Since you're changing from AMD to Intel, I'd recommend you back everything up and perform a fresh install of Windows once the new MB and CPU are in place. Check to see if the ram from your AMD system is compatible(it very well may be).

Some people have to format their drive, I'm just not sure If I have to since I have a separate boot drive.

What happens if you have a separate OS drive like me?

"a separate boot drive" ?
No...you will probably have to reinstall the OS, on whatever drive.

Why is that? All of the OS stuff is on a separate one.
And what would that necessarily do to some of my stuff on the main drive, no OS?
I have the non-OEM disc with the legit key.

Thanks! What would happen to Steam? Would everything within Steam get deleted? It's not a big problem, but yeah. (BTW, Steam is a client online game retailer)

Steam will have to be re-installed, but the programs will still be on your account and need to re-installed as well. Before making changes, make sure you have all the discs or can download all the programs you need or care about. Would suck to discover that a disc is damaged or missing and you are unable to download the program from the internet without buying it again.
