Can anyone tell me that is is possible to play games like watchdogs 2 at ultra settings on gtx 1060 3gb ? I know that it uses around 4859mb vram on ultra settings but 1060 3gb have 3gb vram . So will it cause heavy fps drops or work fine . What amount of vram limt can be ignored if it exceeds

Solution
The data goes to system ram if your card does not have enough for the settings you choose. Swapping data to and from system ram takes longer. This is one reason why integrated graphics are worse performers than videocards, since integrated graphics use system ram.

This extra time swapping data shows up on screen as stuttering in framerate and framerate drops. The game will still run, you can still play it, but the performance will be poor. By experimenting with the settings of a game, you will see what the limits are for your videocard.

well vram limits the resolution and amount of textures loaded so maybe you can crank up the rest of the settings and tone down textures

otherwise, just look up benchmarks and figure it out from there

if you go past 3gb you will likely suffer fps drops and stutter
