Solution

The current concept from Microsoft is that a current Preview will be able to be upgraded to the final release (sometime in the Fall) without a reinstallation. Of course, that may change.

For your Tech Preview - there is a Consumer Preview that you should upgrade to. Not sure why yours hasn't done it automatically yet.

However....MS has specifically NOT stated what will happen with a clean Windows 10 install, as far as 'buying it'.
Current Win 7 & 8.1 users will be able to upgrade to 10 for free. That is because you already bought an OS from them.
They have NOT said...
new build 9926 that dropped in jan should be good for 180 days. after this build there be full beta test build for every one then it go rtm. as long as you keep up with the newer builds you should be able to use windows 10 till the full version comes out latter this year.

Just have to wait and see.

Solution
Hi
my windows 10 technical preview expired in april , i had a dual boot with windows 8 ,
after expiry windows 10 was not able to load but my windows 8 was working ok , I just booted in to windows 8 and deleted the windows 10 partition and later on edited the boot loader to show windows 8 only , so in 5 min it was all normal.
