Hi community,

My AMD FX-9370 is currently overheating a little bit...
What happens when CPU is overheating ?
Is there a performance loss if CPU is over the official temp from 57 degrees ?
(Mine is crashing by approx 85 degrees)

Regards
Max

If overheating, the cpu thermal throttles - it drops clock speed and voltage in order to cool down.
If temperatures continue to rise, then the PC shuts off.
Are you reading the temps with AMD Overdrive? No other program really offers more accurate temp readings for FX chips over that one.

Yes i using Onedrive for this. So overheating could be the issue for my FPS drops. I searching for a new CPU cooler now. But 220W TDP is hard to cool down i think

Do you have a preference between air or liquid cooling?
What's your case? That will determine the kinds and sizes of coolers you can install.
For a 220w TDP cpu, you're looking at the largest cpu air coolers. For example:
-Noctua NH-D15, or the lower profile D15S
-be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
-Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT

For liquid, it's at least 280mm or larger AIO.
