what hardware do i need for a pfsense router my budget 100$-1000$

I'm building one myself using my old eMachines EL1200-o5w desktop and a Rosewill RNG-407 NIC. I haven't built it yet so I don't know if it will work but my understanding is that you can use almost any old PC as long as the network interface is supported by PFsense/FreeBSD.
