I bought a high end gaming laptop about 1.5 years ago and it has been working fine up until the recent windows 10 updates a this month (Sep 2019). Sometimes when i turn on my laptop, it wont load windows forcing me to hold the power button to turn it off and turn it on again few seconds later. The second time will always be fine.

・I scanned my laptop with no signs of malware or virus.
・the pc is set to automatically defrag the harddrive (default win10 stuff)
・Always use a cooling pad when playing games which keeps it under 155 fahrenheit/ 70 celcius while playing
・cleared all start up programs, except for microsoft and essential programs.

What can these force shut downs do to my laptops hard/software in the future, and how can i fix this failure to start up windows from ever happening again and potentially ruining my laptop?

Make and model of said high end laptop? Are you on the latest BIOS update for said laptop? Have you tried backing up your critical content off installation drive and reinstalling the OS after creating a bootable USB installer using Windows Media Creation Tools?
