So I am aggravated by the continual pop-ups of JW Player on all of Tom's reviews and articles that are all over the place! I guess commenting on the reviews doesn't help...I guess they just delete these comment. I try to go to the Contact Us at the bottom of the home page and get some "purch.com" contacts sheet that puts more crap (pop-ups, ads) on my screen.
This used to be a good reading site to see new products, tech advances, comparisons, etc. Notso now!
What has happened?

i use ad-block plus on firefox and did not even know about those videos folks were complaining about. only saw them when i opened edge browser for the first time to see how it looked. then i saw them.

if you have ad-block turned on you should not be seeing those video ads at all. if you are then something is wrong with your end. maybe a reinstall of ad-block would help or resetting the add-on to start customizing it from scratch. i also use the "element hiding helper" that piggy backs on ab-clock plus https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/elemhidehelper/?src=search

it let's you further remove things you don't want to see. ad-block may block an ad but often the frame will stay there. this will let you chose the frame itself...

Thanks for the attention; thanks for the quick reply. Running adblock plus already! (I guess I could go back to a review or article where the JW Player appears and identify it to them (Adblock Plus) as a service issue.) But, yes, Adblock Plus is fully operational. I have no issues anywhere else (bank sites, other blogs (AVS forum, CNET, DBS Talk, etc.), Anand Tech, Tech Power Up, Tech Report, etc...it's just the Tom's Hardware reviews and articles where JW player shows up. Using Win 8.1 and (generally Firefox 52.0). Just check Tom's on IE 11.somthing-or-other) and get the same JW pop-up...always a medium-sized black box with a small white outline oblong rotating in the black field. I do not get it on the Tom's homepage, but if i click any Latest Articles or Latest news, it shows up by the bottom of each subsequent page. Right click it and it says, "Powered by JW Player 7.9.3." Does not appear on these Forum pages.
Thanks for the attention.

I don't see it.

it let's you further remove things you don't want to see. ad-block may block an ad but often the frame will stay there. this will let you chose the frame itself and remove it so you never see it again. for sites you visit often it is invaluable to be able to configure the page the way you want it like this. sometimes i turn it off just to see what the page actually looks like and giggle thinking that many folks actually use it that way!!

that jw player is for the video ads they started playing. u-block will block the video but the little player will still sit at the bottom of the page with the whirling circle going. ad-block removes that for me completely by itself. not sure why you are seeing it if you have ad-block plus installed.
