So I got a 256gb secondary ssd drive. Turned of off and plugged it in. Turned it on and saw the power lead flash on it and now pc won't boot up. Thought I had it plugged in fully but musn' t of. Would it be motherboard fried or psu? Psu is around 12 month old supernova g2 650 gold and the board a z97p d3 gigabyte board.

unplug the PSU from the wall. clear the cmos, check all your connections, and sniff around inside the case for the telltale smell of fried electronics(you'll know it even if you've never smelled it before). Cross your fingers and toes plug it back in again.
If you smell the fried electronics smell, then you'll have to start trouble shooting. Isolating individual components at that point. Do you have some backup stuff that you know works?

Wait...why do you think anything is fried? Was there a sound/smell like something blew?
Did you try restarting, going into bios and adjusting your boot sequence to make sure it's not trying to boot the new ssd before your system drive?

Saw the ssd drive flash as I didn't put case side on as powered up. Left it all a bit and it's all up and running fine again, wouldn't boot up for half hour or so. Different problem now though. Bios detects the ssd drive however Windows disc manager, diskpart and device manager can't find it. Crucial realssd c300 256gb
