What i7 will fit my Skybay/1151LGA?

I would like to upgrade my i5 to an i7 because I've been editing a lot of video lately. It's not clear how to select the right CPU.

The data I've collected about my system:
Socket: 1151 LGA
Motherboard: Lenovo Skybay SDK0J40700
Southbridge: H170 Rev. 31
Chipset: Skylake Re. 07

I don't know what's relevant for choosing a compatible processor. All help, insight and advice are much appreciated.

the i7 6700, i7 7700 if you update your bios system.

just get the i7 6700 , less effort.

What is the critical information that helps figure this out? I've been going around in circles, downloading diagnostic softwares, reading through forums and it just got more and more confusing to me.

I built a PC a long time ago but the salesperson made sure all the parts were compatible.

that you pull out the damn short of the plug.

remove your cpu cooler , replace the the cpu, dont forget to add new thermal paste on the cpu and tadaaa(maybe get a new aftermarkt cooler as well) theyre 20 euros.

since this sounds like a computer from lenovo you will have to check there website or contact support to see what I7 CPU's your computer supports. brand name's like to lock there BIOS down to support certain hardware and they may not even have come out with a BIOS update to support the newer kaby lake 7th gen CPU's

I checked with Lenovo and they verified that it can be upgraded. Thanks for the warning.
