If you need to use a CD or a DVD then you need to purchase an external drive. But, as already asked, what are you trying to do that requires a CD; it shouldn't be necessary on an MBA.

I can recommend the current USB 2.0 LG external Bluray rewriters. They work with Mac OSX straight out of the box.
