[SOLVED] What if I insert 8GB DDR4 2600 Mhz RAM with 4GB DDR4 1333Mhz RAM?

Hello, My laptop have 2 DDR-RAM of each 4GB. Now I want to change one RAM to 8GB. When I checked my RAM in CPUZ then it is showing that DDR-4 2666(1333 Mhz) for both. When I googled it then found both combinedly work as 2666Mhz. Does it means that one RAM have frequency of only 1333Mhz? What if I insert 8GB DDR4 2600 Mhz RAM with 4GB DDR4 1333Mhz RAM? Will it work perfectly. Does after adding that new RAM total frequency will be 3999?

DDR stands for DOUBLE Data Rate. Your RAM is not running at 1333MHz. It's running at it's advertised speed of 2666Mhz (even if just one module is installed). Installing an 8GB DDR4-2600 RAM module may or may not work at all due to incompatibilities with DDR4 RAM. However, if it does boot up and run, your DDR4-2600 RAM would slow down to match the slower RAM and only run at 2666Mhz.

Personally, I wouldn't attempt it.

It's double data rate ram, meaning it transfers twice per clock. That's why RAM with a memory bus of 1333Mhz is the equivalent of 2666Mhz. Your RAM speed will run at the speed of the slowest module, no it's not cumulative so you can't add all the speeds together. Your existing RAM sounds like it's running normally to me though.
