Im too lazy to push the "open/close" button and just pushing the dvd tray when i got the cd. Do you think it will damage the player? I googled it and im confused with their answers. Can you give your opinions? Any answers will appreciate.

Same deal. As soon as it sees the tray start to move back, it kicks in the motor to pull the tray back in.

When they designed it, they knew that people would end up pushing the tray.

Some players have very thin trays so ensure you are pushing straight and not up/down and you are fine.

The remote on many dvd players can deal with open/closing the tray :)
There is a sensor in there that will trigger the door to retract, i have only had two CD/DVD drives fail, both were 6+ years old and never had their button pushed. Disk drives are quite robust and most of them don't have their button pushed to retract the drive because it isn't easy to reach on most systems(i would have to sit on the floor to get to mine). You aren't going to kill the DVD drive, and even if you do they are super cheap these days.

sorry i forgot to say its a dvd player not dvd drive from pc.... is it the same or the dvd player is more senstive?

Why would i spend time to make a shortcut when my hand is already down there? I have to have my hand there to put the disc in it can close the door at the same time, no point in writing a shortcut, then having to use the shortcut rather than do the shorter task, that just makes it a longcut, and these days i rarely use my DVD drive anyway so it would take a long time to pay off the 5 minutes of shortcut writing.
