1GB of SRAM may cost anywhere from $500 to $5,000 depending on several factors at the time of purchase.

Even at the lowest price estimation, 8GB SRAM would cost you $4,000.

SRAM doesn't really exist in DIMM form factor. It's really only used as cache memory.

DRAM latency had not improved by any significant degree for the last decade, and there are plenty of latency-constricted workloads out there.

There will be a solution in some form, albeit IMHO probably not in the form of SRAM as main memory.
