I just got a dell precision t7400 (It was actually free) and I want to upgrade my video card from a Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 to something decent. I'm currently looking at evga's 760, 770, and low end 780's. My OSD says if you want an AMD card you should have an AMD processor and if you want a Nvidia card you should have a Intel processor. But I might be able to force myself to change.
Now the problem. I have a 1000w power supply. I figured that it is good enough for a dual sli configuration. It has 2 6 pin connectors, 1 8 pin, and 1 10 pin. What is that for? Would it be possible to convert that into something else? Besides those it has 2 extra sata power and one extra molex.
What are you guys' opinions and thoughts? Also do you think that these video cards would be a good fit for my computer?

1. A Xeon processor will be ok for gaming, but your motherboard isn't going to support SLI and there will be few if any options for overclocking the CPU or adjustments on ram.
2. There is no reason that AMD has to be matched w/ AMD, etc, they don't care.
