Hi Brett:
If it's illegal, how is it that retail companies with a fairly large web presence and good ratings from customers like DiscountMountain are selling it openly? Apparently, Microsoft hasn't even attempted to stop them from selling the product, hasn't made any announcements denouncing the sales or issued any warnings to consumers, and the seller's customers are not complaining.

Hi kajabla,
That's a good question.
I thought maybe backing up to a home network might be worth it. And I thought maybe it would help me network a couple of computers easier. With Windows XP Pro and Windows XP regular, I was never able to get two computers networked properly, so I figured I might have a better chance of doing so with Windows 7 Pro than regular Windows. I don't know if I have any programs that will only run under XP. I might because I have Office 2003. I wonder now if that will run under W7?

Hi TOM :)

They get away with it because customers who got something cheap dont complain to Microsoft....

You could always email or ring MS, I am sure they WILL stop them selling them and probably take them to court as well once they know about it...

All the best Brett :)

Hi Again :)

Office 2003 and ANY earlier version of Office will run fine in WIN7 , you dont need pro, and the networking stuff (called Homegroups) in Windows 7 is exactly the same in all versions, I run Home, Pro and Ultimate on various machines and the only advantages of Pro and Ultimate are that you can run a virtual machine for old programs that ran in XP and some wont run in 7.

All the best Brett :)
