What is a good amount of gigahertz?

Solution
get an i5 cpu for gaming the the performance per clock which really makes the difference in gaming , where as if you wanted a pc which was a multitasking beast maybe more cores would help but ghz not really important most i5 cpus are 3.0ghz or more my i5 2500 is at 3.4-3.7 (with turbo boost) i have no performance issues with gaming or anything for gaming get an i5 cpu get 8gb of ddr3 ram a good graphics card and a reliable motherboard eg gigabyte or msi
I wish I could answer, but someone hacked me and stoled my gigahertz 🙁

But seriously, much more important than the clock speed is the model of processor; e.g - an FX 8350 clocked at 5GHz won't match an i7 4790k at 4GHz in most games.
