Macbook Pro with OS X El Capitan - Epson Perfection V600 scanner

I am struggling with scanning odd sizes of old film. I love the Epson v600 scanner. Sometimes it is amazingly intelligent, but other times it is totally unpredictable and uncontrollable.
Most importantly i have difficulty getting it to stop trying to predefine the negative size.

For example i am having trouble with the old Kodak 110mm film from the Instamatics. What is a good forum or help group to ask questions about Epson scanning?

tmcdaniel,

With negatives, there should be a scan preview window that allows a custom crop. Download and install the EpsonScan app that work with your scanner. Or, if you have Photoshopp or PhotoPaint, those have scanning "acquire image" utilities.

If that doesn't work, I'd say that if the V600 forces you to take their predefined format, go one or two steps over in size and crop the negative scan after.

I very much wish I could suggest forums for Epson scanning, but I never found one. Their very good hardware is accompanied by completely impenetrable manuals. I have a WF-7620 which is a 57lb, 13 X 19 all in one color and I think it takes at least 3 pieces of paper and six rounds of print preview to have one unusable print. While the V600 chooses your negative format, the WF-7620 always chooses the wrong paper cartridge and then sends me to configure it for the twelfth time. The manual is the most infuriating mess I've ever seen.
