I've been using tons of armory/weapon mods. My mood changes often, and so does the armor I wear. I have found lately that realism has been top on my list of priority. With all those mods I have, I find myself picking and choosing only 1 or 2 items I like per mod.

I also have a lot of mods from the Skyrim workshop (found on steam). I have a sword mod for Glimmer, which has a 1 and 2 handed variant. It has the best looking steel of any weapon I've used, with a very real looking long sword.
Female armor is difficult, as is some of the body mods. There are a lot of people out there that like monstrously large breasts and ridiculously skimpy armor. I have been using the slim version of EBBC mod. The only problem with this mod is that it has to be customized, and that isn't all that simple, and it has options of nude, sexy underwear and normal in game underwear. Be aware of that if you go to install it, but I like the slim body over the in game bodies, which have over sized breasts, like most games.
Now I have several Skyrim workshop armor mods. One of my favorite for females is "Mavari Armor". It shows 0 skin, and has great textures for a light armor setup. I also have "Black Mage Armor", which gives you the mage masters armor in craftable form, with a lot of variants. Including one that is heavy plate, with exposed plate shoulders with lots of heavy leather over the body, which seems vary appropriate for snow weather.
One last bit of advise with Skyrim workshop. If you find some good looking armor or weapon of your liking, look on the right hand side of the page and it'll list for you the person who created the mod. Look up the creator and see his other work, as the good modders have made a lot of stuff, and you are likely to enjoy their other work.
