I've been rocking my i5 7600k for almost two years now and it's held up really well. However, I do find myself bottlenecked in certain titles seeing as a I have an RTX 2070 8gb. Which CPU would be a decent upgrade with noticeable performance increase?

What’s your budget and what RAM do you have? Trouble is your only upgrade is an i7 but even the best i7 compatible with your motherboard is only a moderate improvement and usually over priced. To get a significant improvement requires at least a new cpu and motherboard.

I have 16gb of crucial ballistix ram running on 3200mhz. I don't mind searching for a new mobo and cpu as I plan on handing off my combo to a friend. Budget in total would be around ~$400 - 500 both components included.

Ok decent speed RAM makes Ryzen a very compelling option. I am not US based so will let others source parts but a Ryzen 3600, 3600X or 3700X with compatible B450 or X570 motherboard would be a great upgrade.

You could stay with Intel but really only an i7 makes sense. The current i5’s are not a range I can recommend compared to Ryzen options and are already showing some limitations in a few games.

Dead ended on your current 100/200 series mainboard, save for the 7700K's 8 threads, but which is wayyy too expensive relative to the R5-3600 and B450 mainboard (get an MSI capable of BIOS flash with no CPU installed) you could get for about the same money ($340+)

Even a Ryzen 5 1600 is an upgrade from a 7600k in many cases.

A 3700x will definitely gove you the speed bump needed especially since you have 3200mhz ddr4
