It's PCI, an elderly bus standard that's still used sometimes for soundcards, network adapters, etc. but is slowly being phased out. It's pretty slow and low bandwidth as opposed to PCIe.

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1

x1 slots are often used to add additional SATA ports, USB adapters, wireless network adapters, etc.

In this case, that is not an older PCI slot as previously mentioned. Rather, it is a x1 PCIe slot. Just want to be clear.

Yep. PCIe and PCI are vastly different things.
