What is a suitable motherboard for my CPU?

I have an AMD FX 6300 which I want to over clock however my current motherboard is rubbish. I am looking to get a new motherboard for under £80 which does support overclocking and has some nice features such as USB 3.0, SATA 6GB/S, and SLI support. I have mainly been looking at the MSI 970 Gaming motherboard but I am hesitant to buy it as it seems to be discontinued in many shops and it also seems to be quite outdated. I have also looked at the 990FX chipset but I don't think that my budget will stretch that far. Have you got any suggestions?

It's fine, that will overclock an FX 6300. For not much more, I would recommend a 990fx board.

In your price range the MSI 970 will be great. Have you checked newegg for a CPU+Mobo combo that could help you stretch that budget a bit farther?

I already have the CPU so not looking to get a combo but thanks for the suggestion.

It's fine, that will overclock an FX 6300. For not much more, I would recommend a 990fx board.

That board will be fine, but a 990fx board would be better.

Then go with the 970 as it will allow you to OC and USB3.0 like you are looking for. Just because it is outdated does not mean it is a bad product MSI probably just updated their product line.
