Question What is best when you have 2 memory slots?

It comes with 6gb RAM .

Specs says: 8gb Max PC3-12800 1600 MHz DDR3L, non parity, 2x204 PIN SODIMM Socket.

Should I :

1. Install 2x4gb RAM
2. Install 1x8gb RAM

6GB of Ram ??? how's that possible unless it's 4+2 ? It's always best to have 2 of same in dual channel mode.
