What is better for gaming ECC or Non-ECC memory?

Which is better for gaming - ECC or Non-ECC memory? Why? and what considerations should I make when purchasing memory for gaming?

As a side note - I made another post in another area, asking for a guide on overclocking. In here I would like to ask if there is an overall beginners guide to building a game machine? Something that covers everything, so I don't have to ask too many unrelated questions?

ECC memory is generally used in computers where data corruption would create a real problem. You will be using non-ECC like the rest of us.
