Hello,
i just upgraded from a 2.8 celeron to 3.0 pentium R cpu. running xpsp3.
when the system boots it halts and shows " cpu overclock error and indicates that it supports C1E Bios"
my motherboard is P4M890-M7 SE
i normally just restore everything to defaults and disable boot floppy.
is there any other setting i need to adjust?

Are you using the latest BIOS version for your motherboard?

Did you use the JCMOS1: Clear CMOS Header to restore the BIOS Settings to the default safe settings?

What is your Phoenix - AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility --> Advanced BIOS Features --> CPU Feature --> C1E Function setting set to [Auto] (default) or [Disabled]?

What is the make and model of your memory modules? Are the memory modules running at the correct speed, timings and voltage.

quite correct.it doesn't show cpu info post bootup.
i have checked system property and even run dxdiag
its still void.

thanks Ko888. i will check it out as per your advice

is it possible that the previous celeron 2.8 was better than the current cpu intel R 3.0?

That would confirm that your BIOS revision is too old for the CPU you have installed and support for it is not built in yet, or if you have the latest BIOS available already, the board simply may not support your new CPU. I would check for a BIOS update first though.
