Hi, so I'm having a strange issue where when I move my mouse i hear a buzzing/whine noise in my speakers/headphones. So I'm getting some interference but i don't know from where its coming.

I also plugged my back panel audio out to a mixer to turn it up and there's a buzz/ticking noise like a watch makes that's always there and when I move the mouse there's a whine. Its not the mixer as I hooked it up to another PC and there are no issues at all. So it's coming from the PC for sure.

I have disconnected everything from the back panel other then the headphones and the noise is still there.

I have switched out PSU and the noise is still there.

I took out the GPU and the noise is still there.

I unplugged the front panel audio/usb3.0 and the noise is still there.

I have a ground loop isolator in place between the back panel audio out and the mixer and the noise is still there.

I OC my 4790k to 4.8ghz @ 1.305v so thought it might be the OC causing an issue restored to default in bios to test and the noise is still there. My cpu is delidded not sure if that would cause an issue?

I had the generic Wind 10 HD audio drivers and chipset driver so I installed the drivers from the MOBO website for both audio and chipset...noise is still there.

I unplugged everything from the power surge bar and only left the computer plugged in and the noise is still there. I also plugged it into another outlet and noise is still there.

SO WHERE IS THIS NOISE COMING FROM?? Its really starting to annoy me its in the speakers but you can also sometimes hear it from the computer itself when moving the mouse.

The only thing I can think of is I can try changing the mobo standoffs and screws since these are black and maybe the standard ones will help ground it? Next would be to get a USB sound card and that should fix the issue i believe or just change the MOBO?

Does anyone have any other ideas what i can try or where this interference might be coming from? This happens from both the back panel and front panel jacks.

PC SPECS:

Thanks for reading guys!

Did the problem just start or has it always been there and you just originally ignored it?

Any known hardware, software, or configuration changes that preceded the noise starting to be heard?

Are all audio cables, plugs, and ports properly matched (TR, TRS TRRS)?

That said, with all that you have done, then the CPU de-lidding could be the root of the matter.

Im not sure when it started I heard it a few days ago when gaming and then I decided to plug my mixer in since i wanted to use one mic between 2 pcs. So on the mixer I tested it with nothing plugged in and there was no buzzing just white noise.

All cables are matched. I actually got annoyed and just to be safe in case it was the mixer I went to get another one and same thing. Its fine until i plug in speakers out from my PC into the line in on the mixer then i start to get buzz and ticking noise. Still get the whine when moving the mouse.

Now i changed from back panel speakers out to front panel headphones out plugged that into the mixer and the buzzing is gone.. still have the ticking and whine noise though.

The only thing that changed was the MOBO so I could OC my cpu.

I might have to try and USB sound card.. this is going to be a nightmare trying to figure this out 🙁

So i actually dont get any noise when using headphones 3.5mm plugged into the PC either back or front panel is fine. However, when i run a 3.5mm to 1/4in to the mixer i get the buzzing/ticking and whine noise when moving

It does not I tried the behringer xenyx q802usb and now Im using the mackie mix8. Also, when i use a ground loop isolator pc 3.5mm > ground loop iso > to mixer 1/4in stereo I actually get more intense buzzing so im confused.

Ok, so i found a usb sound card actually had one laying around its the hyperx one and all the noise is gone! So it must be something with the mobo that causes this problem... but its weird that with headphones it works fine but only when connected to mixer it gives me issues.

Now im running it PC > Connected to USB Hyper X sound card > 1/8in to 1/4in stereo cable > Mixer and its working great! Im not even using a ground loop isolator.
