I have been dealing with games crashing to desktop or BSOD since 3 months. It was a long story but I figured out that it was due to xmp activated.. I had this RAM kit back then https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mC...-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-pvs416g320c6k
when I do Userbenchmark it gave me missing ssd althought SSDs I ve never faced a problem with them

I bought a new set of ram
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FH...gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-bl2k16g32c16u4w
the problem persisted, crashed and BSOD when xmp activated. I got it stable at 2933 mhz and 1.35V though.. tried to manually set frequency to 3200 and add voltage up to 1.42 but no luck.

Now I put back the old patriot memory and no crashes anymore with xmp enabled. I didnt change anything , always default profile 1. The funny thing is my old memory was not mentionned in mobo QVL (and is working now) , the new one is (and not working)

Here there are pictures of cpuz of both patriot and crucial RAM

I have been told that it might be the cpu memory controller not liking some timings but I see these 2 kits have the same features .. Could it be the mobo (since that missing ssd thing in userbenchmark ,ah forgot it once gave me missing gpu also, everything else was correct) ? Or should I change more thing in my new ram settings ?

My gear https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BXVW8r plus the spare patriot ram kit

I would try and reflash your motherboard BIOS with the latest version, then clear the CMOS after powering down from a successful BIOS reflash. I'd advise disconnecting from the wall and display and then remove the CMOS battery for 30 minutes, before replacing. As for your rams, which slots are they populating on the motherboard? Would be a good idea to add the PCPP link to your build(located in your sig space) in the thread's body as sig space specs can and will change over time.

On the topic of your build, I wish you went with a Z series chipset motherboard for your build and a different air cooler, while also spending a little more for a K(only) suffix processor.

In all fairness the QVL is there to ensure that the board operated with XYZ ram kit in the motherboard maker's factory/lab prior to launch, meaning they should work out of the box. In practice any DDR4 ram kit found on the market should drop in, provided they aren't built with horrible IC's. I could suggest reducing the tension on the mount for your cooler to see if that helps with your ram speeds. Sometimes people overtighten their coolers on the processor adding unnecessary pressure on the motherboard socket pins.

Edited my first post and added current build
Well that didnt work . I'm already on the last bios version F9 , reflashed it , went back to F8 , cleared CMOS , changed CMOS battery , loosened the cooler (it was a little tight btw) , repasted the cpu .. RAM are in 2nd and forth slots as the manual says.

What is new is crucial is stable when I use one stick even with xmp. Both sticks work individually . Patriot kit works as usual in dual channel.
Benchmark now doesnt give "missing SSD" anymore as it used to do

Concerning the build I wanted the features like wifi usb c and I'm not interested in overclocking .. I wanted the K version because of higher clock , I only play fps games .. The cooler is surprisingly good . Keeps cpu under 70 when gaming while boosting up to 4.9Ghz

More ideas?
