What is Components section of Forum for?

I must be crazy, I could have sworn this thread was in the components section.

It is possible the thread got moved to here, but then it sort of doesn't belong here either but we don't have a general forum (they tend to go off topic) so here is best I guess.

The areas should have a description of what they are for, but most are obvious. Components is open to interpretation more than Graphics Cards, would be.

Just read the question about a bios forum and something about what RL said bothers me, with this 'Components' section. It's the same thing. Between GPU, CPU, storage, cooling, motherboards, psu forums etc even Systems in general, what components are really left? Joysticks, mice and keyboards? A general Components forum seems as redundant as the Bios forum would have been. Maybe Peripherals would be a better term.

In some places its not good to be specific. If we list what goes there, then someone will post something that doesn't exactly match description... better to be somewhat vague.

we need somewhere for the things that don't quite fit (looks around)

The Bios question was easier to answer as not many BIOS aren't on motherboards.

I like the components section if someone has a question about one or two parts (say, PSU, previously cooling, or compatibility), systems is more so for complete build question, build parts lists, etc.
