So I just upgraded to Windows 10 and noticed my computer is using almost all of my RAM just sitting at the desktop and when I use Chrome or play a game its so laggy. What would be causing this? This is the usage just sitting idle on the desktop. Pic below.

You have a memory leak in a driver which is causing the kernel to explode. A common culprit is the Killer LAN network card. If you have one, install the latest driver from the manufacturer's website and reboot.

No luck, after a restart the RAM is normal back down to 2.6GB of 15.9GB but after about 24 hours of normal use, Chrome, PUBG, Fortnite it just eats allll 16GB up and I have no idea

Might be a memory leak. I know that until about a year ago, I used to have issues with Chrome memory leaks making it use 4+GB of RAM over time at which point tabs started crashing or refusing to load but that would show up in resmon/taskman, doesn't appear to in your case, hence the suspicion that it must be a lower-level issue.

I would just do a clean reinstall of windows 10 but I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 (which I have a feeling might be a role in this) but according to microsoft, the key provided from upgrade for free from 7 to 10 would not work in a clean/fresh install.

Windows activation service stores your hardware's signature on Microsoft's servers. If you re-install Windows on the same system your key was already installed on, you can skip the activation key and it should self-activate the next time Windows checks in.

I actually do have the Killer LAN card. It is the Killer e2200. I will try that! Thank you. So I believe I updated it, so we shall see if that changes anything, will report back in 24 hours.

Okay, I know it has only been like 2 hours but my RAM usage is SIGNIFICANTLY better. Still sitting around 2-3 GB idle at desktop depending on what game launchers I have opened. AWESOME thank you.
