what is the program file extension of audio tracks on old cds? For example old MS Word documents format/extension/type is .doc. I am having trouble burning new audio CDs that will play in my old car's cd player. Some rip/burn software allows user to select the file type/extension in which to burn the audio track(s). If I find the answer to my question I may be able to use my copy of ExpressBurn software.

cda I think. If whatever you're trying to play it in supports MP3, it'd be better. You'll get more MP3's on a CD

I've never had issues burning a usable CD with just the Windows Media Player, select the music you want, and burn to disk. Just make sure you use a regular CD-R, quite a few CD players won't read a CD-RW.
