What is G-Sync and can I get it?

Hello there! I was wondering what is G-SYNC and can this monitor get it.

I heard it allows your monitor to give out more FPS or something. I am building a computer and I was wondering if this monitor will be able to capture all of the fps my GPU is putting out, and how G SYNC would affect this. I will be playing minecraft.

G-sync doesn't give you more FPS in terms of your GPU power. here is the short version, G-sync matches your monitors refresh rate to the FPS your GPU is pushing out. so what that gets you, zero screen tearing and ghosting, with very little/no input lag.

Unlike Vsync that caps your GPU at 60 FPS to match most monitors refresh rates, the problem with that is you can never hold 60 FPS, you will get drops that will look like lag, or a slight pause, it also increases your monitors input lag, that is why a lot of people who are very serious about their shooter games don't use Vsync and just deal with the screen tearing.

As of right now you can only get G-sync installed on the ASUS VG248QE, or if you have a VG248QE you can get a DIY kit and install it yourself. So IMO if you don't have a monitor and you want G-sync pick up an ASUS VG248QE, then as the price for G-sync drops pick up a DIY kit (currently $200) and you are set. I need to add though that the VG248QE is an amazing monitor and you will love the monitor even without G-sync.

To be honest though if your computer inst capable of running games around or over 100 FPS i wouldn't spend the money on a 144hz monitor because though it will look a little better, it is going to be minimal, vs a computer that runs games at higher FPS, that is where this monitor shins.
