What is Ghosting/motion blur and how bad is it?

Hi community

I'm buying a 144hz gsync display but heard that these monitors have ghosting.

How bad is it?

Also apparently most have a strobing technology to counter this but it mostly just dims the screen then wacks the colours off course so I'd have to make a colour profile to switch to every time I used it.

Is a 144hz monitor going to run fine default or do I have to use this tech to stop it blurring if it does in the first place?

Hello.

To begin with, all LCD monitors have motion blur, unless you use Lightboost (strobing) or the likes. The 144hz is to reduce this effect, and G-sync even more.

A 144hz gsync display should have little to no visible motion blur or ghosting. It is going to run fine by default if you set it up at 144hz. It should be better with G-sync/Freesync.

Okay cheers, I'm getting a 1080p as I hardly have the space for a 1440p and I'd rather have high fps and no stutter than higher resolution

If you're looking for a gaming monitor and 1080p, the Acer XB241H is still the one to beat.
