Question what is graphics riser?

when I study setting my mining machine, I ran into this concept: GPU riser.
I searched on google and did not get good understanding of some result.

can someone give me a simple answer? sorry I am not a hardware guy.

It is a cable that allows you to move your GPU away from the motherboard.

One end goes into the motherboard PCIe slot (where the GPU would normally go) and the other attaches to the GPU.

You need a case designed to allow for this repositioning.
