Hello- I have a NEC FS2111-BK (21" flat screen). I recently got the game Painkiller, which ROCKS, yes it does, but after about an hour one night, I got this funky frozen screen effect. It persisted through restarting two times, then I let the whole thing cool off for two hours. When I restarted, it ran Painkiller fine again for an hour, then "kazaam" again. The "Asus Probe" temperature monitor does not indicate any high temps - 44C on the chip and 36C on the board. I am running a Intel 2.5GHz with a ATI Radeon 9500 PRO - nothing overclocked. I tried to capture this in the photo on the THG Album web page. Any ideas? My guess is overheated memory or VPU on the Radeon. That is cheaper than a new monitor, so crossing my fingers.

It is 100% impossible that your monitor is the cause of this problem. Your instincts about the video card or system memory are probably correct.

I would assume that the video card is overheating.
