Twitch ive been searching for a MMOG for a while now sinse i quit Anarchy Online

and i think Eve is it. Shadowbane? people say it sucks but i also read this is because the empires take time to build and teh game was just released..

people also say Eve sucks. more so than Shadowbane. BUT, numerous times people have stated that action game fans will be thoroughly disapointed. im not lookin for an action game tho, so think this will be the one. the graphics look amazing too

i find your first sentence kind of contradictory.
You say <i>'why spend countless hours for a game that can't be used online, then say the ones online demand even more of your time'</i>.

To me that doesnt make sense, if you find games that you spend alot of time on offline (as if it was online it would be ok), and then say that the online ones take even more time, with a bad connotation.

Anyway, I will defend what I consider RPGs, being a longtime player of the dungeons and dragons series of PC titles and the d&d rule based buck rogers games. But can't defend MMORPGs, they are ridiculous, they may be addicting (which is why I choose not to get involved with them) but in the end I couldnt bear the resentment of lost time and and the lack of accomplishment, something a real RPG gives you.

In fact I dont know if games like EQ are really RPGs. RPGs have always had endings, EQ is more of simply an online environment.

But in the definition of a role playing game, EQ is the perfect one because all you do is run around role play and game.

Maybe all those 'RPGs' I played really werent rpgs but should be titled adventure games with statistics?

Some food for thought.

My gaming preference is what is commonly known as adventure gaming. Though there are none anymore.
And I dont regret the time spent on my RPGs, I can't say the feeling of gaming magic and sense of accomplishment was any more in those games, then say, LucasArts Full Throttle.. which took much less time and due to not being able to die and not having to worry about leveling up to be able to kill some new monster.. much more enjoyable when i look back.
