I'm planning to get a job at a pc shop and I want to know what I will up for.

What do you wear
What is the pay like
What do you have to do

I'm a student Btw.

Horrible pay, explain things to idiots, working freakishly long hours flat out all the time. Well thats what it is at the tech store here in Aus. Depends what store it is i guess. If you like it you will be k. If you survive you will be stronger

EDIT: Just to be clear that last bit was a joke, you will be fine

You get to explain things to people who don't want to learn or don't know how a computer works. If you go into a computer store knowing exactly what you want, or even have a basic idea, you're not going to have to ask an employee a question. This means you will get people who don't know what they want, and you get to figure it out for them. You will also get people who just don't know where something is located. If you go into a store like Fry's, you can see there are some people who might as well work at a grocery store, they don't know much about computers themselves and they just tell people where things are located. Then you have the people who know what they're talking about who deal with all the customers who want to buy their grandson a GHz of RAM.

Then there is that dirty little secret called 'spliffs', which the lowly salesclerks never hear about but which allow your boss to go boating on weekends while you're in the store on that beautiful summer day. That's when the mfgr. or broker offers cash or incentives to push their product XYZ and for each unit sold they get a nice check. So when the Sales Mgr. says they need to really sell these (crappy) PSU's and you know they're crappy, that's the reason.
