I am only getting around 60-80 FPS on games like far cry new dawn and COD modern warfare (2019).

I am playing on high settings - i would expect more FPS given my specs? or am i wrong?

Specs:
GTX 1070 (no OC)
i7-6700k (no OC)
16GB RAM

Playing in ultra/high at 1440

All running at normal temps...

Thanks!

A gtx 1070 isn't that strong to push more than the fps you are getting. Remember you are gaming at 1440p. Monitor your CPU and GPU usage while playing with MSI afterburner. If your gpu is in the 95-100% range, then you are fine, the fps you are getting are normal.
I have a similar build to yours and my fps looks around the same that you are describing

Although my MW fps is more like 70-120

Im running these:
Vega 56 Strix (UV)
Ryzen 5 2600 OC @4.1GHz 1.35V
2x8GB RAM 2666MHz OC@ 3200

Im playing at 1440p & high and ultra mix also
