what is manage 3D setting in Nvidia control panel

Hi, I am wondering what exactly does the manage 3D setting in Nvidia control panel mean? also, say in bf4, would the settings be controlled by the setting I have in game or the setting I have in global/program?

It just adjusts the image quality settings. I think it would override the the game settings for Anti-Aliasing (edge smoothing), and antistropic filtering (less shimmer).
