What is meant by nm technology?

Hi Everybody.
First of all, this is not a homework. I am just asking this out of Curiosity. (I am clarifying this because my previous 2 question got an allegation of Homework)

Today I was checking my PC info via speccy and I saw in CPU section, there is written:

Technology: 45nm

What the HECK is 45 nm technology.
I tried to research on google and found much much complicated definitions than what I can understand.

If anyone could just simplify it and explain it to me, then it will be very helpful.

45nm (nanometers) is the wavelength that the CPU's are built on. It is the size of the transistors built into the CPU.
