Don't understand memory testing, wasn't sure if that was the correct link with the information.

Testing. To make sure it actually works.

In the PC world, Memtest86 is the generally accepted testing tool.
Multiple passes, anything other than 0 errors is a fail.

"initialized" is simply when you post some data to that memory for the first time.

"It means setting the memory to a known value before you start. "

In programming, for instance...if I "initialize" a "variable" (a location in memory), I set it to a value that I know and want.
