I built my own system several years ago as a project and it worked fine. I then gave this to my son and when he came back from camp several connectors were missing. When I went to replace them, I noticed the graphics card was different, and his hard drive was replaced with a SATA drive, I think from a laptop.
Conveniently, my daughters boy friend at the time, worked at Staples in the computer dept and I have a feeling he ransacked it and took things out. (no other explanation). (not that I think he took them for Staples, just mentioning he had a level of knowledge to know what to yank out)
I think I replaced all the missing connectors etc, but frankly this was my first build and it was awhile ago.
When we turn on the computer, the computer case lights up, but the fans don't turn on.
Is it just this janky hard drive? If I replace it, do you think it will work? does it look like anything else was "acquired"?
Thank you

based on what I can see spec wise, buying new would be the way to go.
