what is motherboard standoff?

so i built a pc and i watched a video which said you have to fit the standoff screw i locked into the manuel there was only one screw. where do i use this?
i tried fitting it onto the centre big screw but it doesn't fit?

Ok. Here is your case interior:

I've highlighted where the screws are supposed to go to attach the motherboard to the motherboard tray/case. Looking at the case, it appears that most of the screw-in points are raised as pseudo-standoffs and so, motherboard standoffs are not required. The image is pretty dark, but it appears that the only stand-off needed might be in lower-right one for a Micro-ATX motherboard.

Motherboard stand-offs are screws that maintain a separation between the electric circuits on the underside of your motherboard and the metallic motherboard tray in your case. How many screws you require depends on the case/motherboard tray and your motherboard.
