What is my bottleneck? Trying to run GTA V, horrible FPS and stuttering.

I've been getting quite bad FPS, it is never running smoothly. I just need help identifying my bottleneck as my GPU should be able to run it... Specs listed below.

CPU: FX-6300
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V
RAM: 8GB G-Skill Ripjawz X
Mobo: Biostar A960D+
PSU: EVGA 500B

I also have a cheap HDD, could this be a problem? I've got the latest GTA V driver and I have FXAA off, MSAA off, advanced graphics all off, grass is on normal, tessellation off. The rest is on Very High to High. Thank you in advance :)

1) What's your min / avg / highest FPS?
2) Is your card 4GB or 2GB? (Though I don't believe it to be the card, make sure the estimated game VRAM usage is lower than this cards)
3) Get a monitor program to monitor your CPU Usage and GPU Usage and temps

4) Hard Drives don't generally mess with FPS, only loading screens.

Your issue most likely lies in a hardware getting to hot and throttling or running out of pushing power / or driver problem.

Hey, sorry for the late reply didn't get any alert!

I have the 4GB version and the estimated VRAM usage is well under.
Sometimes my FPS gets horribly low around 15. Highest is 60, however that's because of V-Sync. I have no idea of the average, I'd estimate around 20-30. I also get horrible stutter.

My CPU usage never goes near 100% and neither does my RAM. The temperatures seem good too...

Could my cheap mobo be the issue?

Thanks for the reply!

Usually, this type of issue is not referenced to the MOBO, however possible, we will put that on the back burner for now.

Lets look at your settings, try taking verticle sync off, tell me what fps difference if any you get? Also, turn off the 4x effects down to 1x for Anti Aliasing

I tried taking V-Sync off before and that didn't make much difference. The AA was already off. I just used the Geforce Experience programme to optimise the game more towards performance. So basically everything is running on high rather than very high. It seems to have done the trick. Thank you for all the replies!
